Advocacy & Support

Support when you need it, advocacy when you seek it.

Student Assistance and Support Services (SASS) exists to assist, advocate, and guide students facing challenges—whether academic or personal—that could impact their success at UNC Charlotte. They help streamline access to campus resources, encourage self‑advocacy, and support student resilience and personal autonomy.

Who SASS Serves:

  • Students can schedule one-on-one consultations with SASS staff to navigate crises, policy questions, absence verifications, withdrawals, incomplete grades, and more, all with supportive planning and follow‑up. SASS also activates the NinerCare Team for care-and-concern outreach.
  • Parents & Family Members can consult (with FERPA waiver on file) regarding absence verification, hospitalization or emergency notifications, and academic or enrollment concerns. SASS supports outreach and planning on behalf of students in distress.
  • Faculty & Staff receive consultation support and can submit Care & Concern referrals for students showing signs of personal or academic distress.
